Our first day in Colorado Springs was an eventful one. First was breakfast. The kids loved eating breakfast at the hotel where they got to pick whatever they wanted.
Our first stop of the day was the Garden of the Gods. The majestic red rock formations are pretty beautiful against the green trees and bushes. Even though it was a Thursday morning it was pretty busy and we had a hard time finding a parking spot.
Once we found a spot to park we got out and did a little hike. It was pretty hot.
After our hike we returned to the main spot and Rob dropped me off while he circled the lot for a parking spot. I was surprised it only took about 15 minutes before they all joined me. This was my favorite spot of the park.
There were places to climb on the rocks and a big paved walkway we could stroll and look at all the formations
After the Garden of the Gods is was back to the hotel. We ate some lunch we picked up at the grocery store and Nixon got a bath and a nap.The girls and Rob went to the pool.
A storm rolled in and it was pouring. Once the rain let up a bit we headed over the Manitou Cliff Dwellings. It was really cool to explore these ancient dwellings. They were in pretty good condition and you could go in and out and climb up on them.
For dinner we headed over to Manitou Springs to a middle eastern place and tried a couple sampler plates of falafel, hummus, pita bread, lamb, chicken, beef, and salad. Right down the street from the restaurant was a little carnival area with lot of these kiddie rides. We let the kids each pick a ride to ride. After we finished the day with a ice cream cone.
